We create safe and brave learning spaces and take actions to effect social change, defined also as activism. For this, we perform the following activities at a local, regional, national, European, and international level:
- Organization of international mobility programs through Erasmus+, European Solidarity Corps, and other funding opportunities.
- Organization of seminars, workshops, youth exchanges, training courses, conferences, public events, and other community events.
- Partnerships, networking, and participation in a variety of projects, including volunteering opportunities and internships.
- Support of youth initiatives, offering mentorship, training & promotion.
- Online events and activities, campaigns, webinars, podcasts, panels and more.
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
We are committed to the active participation and involvement of LGBTQIA+ and allies youth and adult youth in all areas of our work.
Active Rainbow is open, accessible, and welcomes everyone who is/are interested in non-formal learning, mobility opportunities, and contributing their verse to society. You can become involved in the organization from wherever you are in the world and contribute in different ways on and offline.
For us, by participating in our activities and projects, we consider you already a part of our growing community, thus you become an Active Rainbow yourself!
Apart from participating in our events, there are a number of opportunities where you can get involved, become an ambassador of the platform and its mission and be part of our Volunteers community.
Local Volunteers
If you are residing in the country, and you are interested in joining our dynamic and multicultural community, then this might be for you. This is completely flexible. You can get involved in a one-off event or you can develop with us a more structured volunteering program. It’s up to you how much time you commit. It can also be possible to apply for EU-funded projects where we can support and mentor you in different ways (before, during and after).
International Volunteers
You do not have to be physically in Riga to be part of Active Rainbow! As an international volunteer, you can get involved both online and offline. You will have the chance to provide your support for the management and implementation of activities, projects and other events of the organization
Long-term Volunteering
With Begin Again we welcome two volunteers from EU countries who are going to join our team through the long-term European Solidarity Corps project to create their firsthand experience of being part of our NGO and community. You will have the opportunity to live in Riga for one year and focus on queer Education, activism and community building, having the chance to connect with our local and international community, create your own projects and more. This individual volunteering program starts every year in October. Check our social media and stay tuned for the annual call to Begin Again with us!
Short-term Volunteering
Pride Begins is the newest chapter through which we welcome 10 volunteers as part of our European Solidarity Corps Volunteering Teams project to help with the organisation of the Pride festival (Riga Pride, Baltic Pride) and not only. You will engage with the local queer community, create digital material throughout the project and initiate your own personal project(s) during your stay. Pride Begins is a dynamic and transformative journey on a personal level and for your life-long competencies. This program happens every year between May and June and lasts for a month.
Internships Opportunities
We also offer the possibility to have your internship at Active Rainbow through Erasmus+ programmes (E+ traineeship with your Univiversity, Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs or other types of funding), specifically as a digital marketing/social media intern or other formats accordingly. If you are passionate about human rights and diversity and also about content creation, this opportunity may be for you!
