To Move brought together young queer people willing to explore dance and movement in a safer and braver space, fostering an empowered community.
The project was inspired by the different ways, tools and methods that Active Rainbow likes to use when it comes to embodiment, as well as by our own personal journeys of dance, self-expression and community-building.
To Move consisted of 3 phases: Preparation Phase, a 10 days experiential learning programme, and a Local Action Phase with activities taking place in every participating country.
The main activity took place at Plavnas Guest house close to Drusti, Latvia from 25 October to 3 November 2025 (excluding travel days).
The space was held by a group of 30 participants from Greece, Latvia, Spain, Poland, Estonia and Italy, who came together to explore dance and movement in a safer and braver space.
Movement can tell many stories. Our bodies do carry all of our story, so if we don’t let our bodies move how they naturally want to move, then we cannot be who we are.
EXCHANGE
During the 10 days youth programme, participants explored self-expression through experiencing different types of body-movement and other non-formal learning activities. The programme followed an interactive and experiential learning approach, involving learning by doing and peer learning.
Participants were the creators of their own experience, growing with each other, and learning how to build their intercultural community, and co-created safer space.
Activities included: creating support care groups and systems for daily reflection and community-care tasks, body movement sessions – dancing individually, in contact, in pairs, movement jams – different kinds of artistic expression sessions, storytelling through movement, street action with performances and collective expression of intentional messages to the public by every working team, self-organized sessions, with a space for exchanging stories, knowledge, skills, creativity and more.
