Participating in this Erasmus+ program was a truly eye-opening experience for me. I applied because I wanted to be surrounded by the queer community and explore a different, more inclusive approach to sports and physical activities. I was curious to see how sports could be transformed into a tool for connection, well-being, and community building. My goal has been achieved and I received so much more.
One of the most impactful moments for me was realizing that I could enjoy being on my own while still feeling completely part of the community. It felt freeing to have the space for self-reflection without any pressure to constantly engage — and yet, I was genuinely happy seeing others around me thrive. That sense of shared joy, even in solitude, was deeply meaningful.
I learned that it’s okay to go with the flow — to explore, test boundaries, and see where that journey leads. I also came to understand that in building inclusive spaces, it’s the people present who shape the environment. Assumptions have no place in inclusive communities; instead, we must be open, curious, and willing to co-create a space where everyone feels comfortable and heard.
This program reminded me that inclusion isn’t a static rulebook — it’s a living, evolving process shaped by the people within it.

During the project we created a community, and it was magical to be a part of it. It was wonderful to create something together while working in teams, whether it was cooking, discussing and brainstorming different ideas or organising activities for each other. I had the opportunity to share what I know and learn about the experiences of others. Everyone at the project shared similar values such as accessibility and inclusivity. I have been doing different sports for my whole life and being a part of a group who also wants to make sports accessible and inclusive made me feel motivated and inspired. Also, this project helped me prioritise taking care of myself, and others showed me that it is okay to take time for myself as well.

I never would have imagined that living with 20+ strangers for 10 full days could be so enjoyable. Coming into this project, I had no expectations as this was my first Erasmus experience and having it end so soon is pretty unfortunate. However, I now have a wish to go on more projects and hopefully come across some of the people from past projects again.
The biggest takeaway from this whole experience is the type of support and good energy I got from everyone around me. I hadn’t realised how important this is for me. The shared environment made it easy to be myself and to express my emotions. And together with sports, I think it’s a much more relaxed way of making connections with the people around me. It made me feel safe to take up more space, which is something I’ve been wanting to improve on for a while.
